John Christmas is an alumnus of Dartmouth College and Cornell University in the United States. He is a citizen of Latvia because his mother is Latvian. He worked as Head of International Relationships Group at Parex Bank of Latvia from 2002 until 2004 when he turned whistleblower. He has been living in exile from Latvia ever since.

He is an active writer having written many articles for various websites about Parex, which turned out to be closely connected with Russian President Vladimir Putin. He also speaks for podcasts and financial conferences about Russian money laundering. He is co-author of award-winning spy thriller ‘KGB Banker’ (Christmas and McCormick, 2021).

He was featured in documentaries ‘Jumts’ and ‘Jumt 2’ produced by Nemelo.lv and televised in Latvia on RETV (Pupols, 2021 and 2022). He is a co-producer of the award-winning documentary ‘Bankers Game’ premiered in 2025.
